Greek police suspect that Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, the pilot who killed his English wife and then claimed that the crime was committed by robbers who broke into his home, may have been drug cartel carriers and strangled Caroline Crouch when the latter discovered him.

This suspicion arose after investigations into the Greek’s income showed that he was living a luxurious life, despite the fact that his salary as a pilot was not that high.

Investigators found that the couple had recently bought land worth around 60,000 euros, a house over 150,000 euros and had just spent a luxury holiday in Dubai.

According to Greek police, Charalambos Anagnostopoulos, known as Babis, had another source of income and killed his 20-year-old wife when she found out where the money came from.

Babis strangled his wife on May 11, in front of their 11-month-old daughter.
