Një tërmet i fuqishëm me magnitudë 7.7 goditi Mianmarin, sipas Shërbimit Gjeologjik të Shteteve të Bashkuara.
Tërmeti goditi 16 kilometra (10 milje) në veri-perëndim të qytetit të Sagaing, Mianmar rreth orës 12:50 pasdite. sipas kohës lokale, tha USGS.
Deri tani nuk dihet nëse ka viktima në vend, i cili është në mes të një lufte civile.
Tërmeti u ndje dhe në Bangkok, ku qytetarë të frikësuar dolën në rrugë. Dëshmitarët atje thanë se lëkundjet ishin mjaft të forta aq sa uji nisi të dilte nga pishinat.
