Nju Jork, 10 prill 2025 – Një aksident tragjik helikopteri ndodhi më 10 prill 2025 në lumin Hudson pranë Manhattanit, duke shkaktuar vdekjen e gjashtë personave në bord: një familje spanjolle prej pesë anëtarësh dhe piloti.
Helikopteri i tipit Bell 206, i operuar nga kompania New York Helicopters, u nis nga heliporti i Manhattanit në orën 14:59 për një fluturim panoramik. Piloti ishte 36 vjeç. Katër persona u shpallën të vdekur në vendngjarje, ndërsa dy të tjerë ndërruan jetë në spital nga plagët e marra.

The Escobar family who died in the Hudson River helicopter crash
New York, April 10, 2025 – A tragic helicopter crash occurred on April 10, 2025, in the Hudson River near Manhattan, resulting in the deaths of six people onboard: a Spanish family of five and the pilot.
The Bell 206 helicopter, operated by New York Helicopters, took off from Manhattan’s heliport at 2:59 PM local time for a sightseeing flight. About 16 minutes later, at 3:17 PM, the helicopter suffered an in-flight failure, losing control and crashing into the Hudson River near Pier 40. Witnesses reported hearing loud noises and saw the helicopter break apart in mid-air, with the debris falling into the water.
The family that perished consisted of Agustín Escobar, president of the Spanish branch of Siemens, his wife Mercè Camprubí Montal, and their three children aged 4, 5, and 11. The 36-year-old pilot was also killed. Four people were declared dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Initial reports suggest that the helicopter lost its tail rotor and one of its blades before crashing into the water.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed his condolences to the victims’ families, while Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called the incident “an unimaginable tragedy.”
